Well, simply, because it will make you feel better. Moderate physical activity, such as walking, performed most days of the week for 30 minutes can significantly improve your health. Walking is an aerobic and weight-bearing exercise, so it is good for your heart and helps prevent osteoporosis. Recent studies found that your risk of diabetes plummets by 80% just by walking a half an hour every day. These 30 minutes do not need to be completed in one chunk of time--you can split them up into 5- or 10-minute increments and receive virtually the same benefits. So tailor your 30 minutes of walking to fit your needs and schedule.
Walking is considered one of the best exercise choices
because it’s easy, safe and cheap. Brisk walking can burn
as many calories as running, but it is less likely than running
or jogging to cause injuries. Walking doesn’t require any
training or special equipment, and walking instead of driving
reduces traffic, noise and air pollution. So why walk?
Because walking benefits your health, your pocketbook,
and the environment.

There are 1, 440 minutes in every day.  Why not schedule 30 of them for walking?
